Brown bin collections back to weekly

Date Released - 21/07/2022

BROWN bins will go back to being collected weekly from Monday 25 July following the successful completion of emergency repair works to the tipping station at Bayley Street Recycling Centre.

Collections were temporarily rescheduled to run fortnightly from 13 June to increase capacity on green, blue and black bin rounds and minimise disruption during the works – during which bin lorries had to travel to other tipping stations outside of Tameside.

But now the tipping station at Bayley Street can reopen, brown bin rounds will once again run every week.

The collection schedule on the Bin App and council recycling webpage  www.tameside.gov.uk/recycling will be updated from 23 July to reflect the weekly brown bin collection pattern being back in place.

Tameside Council Executive Member Cllr Denise Ward, responsible for waste collections, said: “I’m pleased to say the emergency repair works to the sink hole that appeared at the tipping station at Bayley Street have run to schedule and are now completed – meaning brown bins can once again be collected weekly.

“Thank you to everyone for your understanding and patience during the works.”
